Game of Thrones - HBO
HBO has begun filming this show, based on the first George R. R. Martin book, Game of Thrones.
I think the books will serve as a fantastic source for a television show given the breadth and depth of the sociopolitical machination and the constant struggles. It seems to highligh the huge ensemble cast and some of its wonderfully conceived characters, including some of the more memorable anti-heroes, deviously scheming manipulators, and characters who can persevere beyond great difficulties.
The author of the book is willing to expend any character and explore not just the good and light, but the dark and evil, and most enjoyably the expansive gradation of grey in between; the book author does not conform to the typical fantasy archetype, so it will be interesting to see how it is adapted. It will also be interesting to see how they introduce the more fantastic elements of the book in the extreme north and south of the land.
They have some well-known actors already, and I greatly look forward to this series.
P.S. Moderators, my apologies, there is a thread called "A Song of Ice and Fire" by Melikon that is ~1200 days old. A Song of Ice and Fire is the name for the entire series of source books for the show, but the show is now named after book 1. As you see fit, either merge it back and delete this, or let this thread stand now that the show has been specifically named.
My son is my hero. His strength is true inspiration. If I'd braved one-tenth of the struggles he faces each day, I would be called courageous.
